One of the awesome benefits of the internet in this day and age is that we can make phone calls over the internet and save hundreds of dollars per year compared to traditional phone services. Here’s how internet phone technology works.
When a phone call is made over the internet it’s broken down into digital packets or data, sent over the network then reassembled for the person on the other end of the line for the person on the other end to hear.
Thanks to internet based phone services like ACN, consumers can essentially bypass their local telephone company and save a lot of money every year especially if they make frequent calls overseas to Europe or select countries like France.
When you choose an internet based phone service you can either make calls directly from your computer or you can purchase an IP phone and make calls like you normally would with your traditional home phone.
If you want to keep your existing telephone that you’ve been using for years all you have to do is buy an Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA). Once you have this adapter you connect it to your phone line, modem and you can make calls that way via the internet.
